Self-Esteem Spirituality

I Love Me

Self-love and acceptance are crucial components of a healthy spiritual life, especially from a Christian perspective. The Bible teaches that we are made in God’s image and are beloved children of God. Therefore, loving ourselves is not only necessary but also an act of obedience to God’s commandment to love our neighbors as ourselves.

However, self-love should not be confused with self-centeredness or narcissism. It means accepting ourselves as we are, flaws and all, and recognizing our worth as God’s creation. This kind of self-love frees us from the need for external validation and allows us to focus on our relationship with God. There are situations that take place in our life that alters the way we think and feel about ourselves. We all have a story. I talk about this in my first and most popular book “The Courage To Dance Again” Finding purpose in your pain. It’s about self-discovery and self-love. I had to come to terms with some very painful parts of my life in order to move on.

Furthermore, self-acceptance is vital in our spiritual journey. It means acknowledging our strengths and weaknesses and being honest with ourselves about where we are in our faith. It also means forgiving ourselves for our mistakes and trusting in God’s grace.

In conclusion, self-love and acceptance are essential for a healthy spiritual life. By embracing ourselves as God’s beloved children, we can deepen our relationship with God and live a more fulfilling life.
